Ideal Postcodes becomes a first-party Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central integration

IDDQD's Ideal Postcodes brand is now the default installed address lookup in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central for the UK and Ireland. The extension ships as part of the product's British localisation, jointly developed and supported by Microsoft and IDDQD Limited.

Business Central release 28.0 ships the extension to users in the UK and the Republic of Ireland. New customers receive it automatically; existing customers can schedule the update until 31 August 2026. Enter a postcode on any card page, choose Look up address from postcode, pick the address and Business Central completes the fields, across customers, vendors, contacts, employees and bank accounts.

Lookups run on the Ideal Postcodes API, built on Royal Mail's Postcode Address File and Ordnance Survey data: more than 30 million UK delivery points across 1.8 million postcodes.

The integration is co-maintained by both companies and documented on Microsoft Learn. Setup takes an Ideal Postcodes account, a plan and an API key, entered under Service Connections in Business Central:
